Toni Hooper

‘Character is destiny.’ Heraclitus Toni Dranes Hooper was born and raised and continues to live in a town known to many as the Athens of the South, Nashville, Tennessee. A fitting home for this artist, that boldly and proudly proclaims her Greek heritage in her life and in her art. The Abstract Expressionists have had the greatest influence on her work, inspiring her exploration of the use of color, shapes and lines. Creating with a passionate intensity, she blends subconscious thoughts with raw and impulsive movements, forming a unique and recognizable style, always signed with her Greek signature. Hooper marries her appreciation of Egyptian art and her deep love for her Greek culture by creating turbulent abstractions that often interpret the Egyptian obsession with death and celebrate the Greek love of life. She does not confine her creations to two-dimensional surfaces or traditional presentations. Constantly challenging herself to explore new methods and media. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Studio Art and has devoted much of her life to exposing inner-city youth to visual arts and photography. Her expressionist style has brought her awards and fans. Hooper?s work is represented by HA Gallery, Nashville, TN.
