New Year’s Eve traditionally has been one of the busiest restaurant nights of the year. Many restaurants feature special menus and pricing, and some throw in a party to boot.
I plan to be at Saffire.
A fixture of Franklin’s The Factory for 17 years and the city’s longest-running, privately owned dining spot, Saffire closes after brunch and dinner service on Dec. 31.
Owner and Nashville native Tom Morales made his first culinary mark with his movie catering company TomKats. Now one of the area’s most successful restaurateurs — downtown’s Acme Feed & Seed, The Southern Steak & Oyster, and Fin & Pearl among them — Morales is saying goodbye to his first-ever restaurant with a bang on New Year’s Eve.
So make plans to stop by Morales and managing partner Jennifer Masley host several hundred well-wishers with a special four-course menu for $75.
The menu includes: chili mango shrimp as an amuse bouche, chose of Ribbon 2.0 salad, cherry smoked pork belly or wild mushroom bisque as an appetizer; pistachio-crusted salmon, wood-fire filet mignon, stuffed pork loin, or roasted winter vegetable lasagna as an entree; and apple crisp, flourless chocolate tore or pecan pie a la mode as dessert. MAKE RESERVATIONS HERE.
Other New Year’s Eve dining options remain, of course, but best to lock up your dinner reservation now in a city that longtime dining guide kingpin Zagat just declared one of the America’s Most Exciting Food Cities. (We’re Number 20!). Make sure to check OpenTable and Resy for what’s available, and when in doubt, call the restaurant for last-minute openings. And of course, there are scores of wonderful Nashville restaurants, particularly those featuring international cuisine, which take no reservations.
