2015 Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival and Walk

The Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival is a family-friendly celebration of spring and Japanese culture. Admission is free. The festival will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Nashville Public Square from 9:00am to 5:00pm and will begin with the Cherry Blossom Walk.

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean and the Consul General of Japan in Nashville, Motohiko Kato, will lead the walk, sponsored by Sister Cities of Nashville and the Japan-America Society of Tennessee. The 2.5-mile course follows the Cumberland River Greenway, looping at Sister Cities’ Magdeburg Connector to Morgan Park in Germantown. Festival highlights include a full day of live Japanese music and dance, a roving “Candyman,” martial arts demonstrations, children’s activities, artists, vendors and a variety of Japanese food, including special festival menus from some of Nashville’s favorite food trucks. Proceeds benefit the mission of the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival Committee to plant 1,000 cherry trees – 100 each spring over 10 years – in Nashville neighborhoods and parks.  The festival is organized and sponsored by the Consulate-General of Japan, the Japan-America Society of Tennessee and the Office of Nashville Mayor Karl Dean.
