A Raisin in the Sun

TPAC’s Season for Young People

Living in a cramped apartment on Chicago’s south side in the 1950s, the members of the Younger family aspire to more. When their late father’s life insurance money comes through, they realize dreams might become reality. Walter Lee seeks his own business to earn financial independence, but his sister Beneatha wants to attend medical school. Meanwhile, their mother Lena longs to move them all to a bigger home. What will finally allow the Youngers to move forward in the world, and who will have their dreams deferred? The powerful story of Lorraine Hansberry’s groundbreaking play still resonates today, and the company brings it to vibrant life with a creative, streamlined set and talented ensemble.
