Adventure Science Center Summer Camp 2015

For the past 60 years, Adventure Science Center’s ScienceQuest Camps have provided exciting enrichment programs for children entering Kindergarten through 9th grade. Camps combine science, technology, engineering and math skill-building in ways that encourage kids to actively discover and examine concepts for themselves. Adventure Science Center today announced its ever-popular lineup of camps for summer 2015. Member registration opens Jan. 26, and registration for the general public opens Feb. 9.

This year’s lineup of Kindergarten through 6th grade ScienceQuest Camps features:

CSI Nashville Covering everything from DNA to logic puzzles, campers will explore the problem-solving power of science and technology when it comes to solving mysteries while learning about the fun in forensics. May 26 – 29 and June 29 – July 3.

Wilderness Week Campers get to test their survival skills in Nashville’s own backyard while learning the science and skills of safely exploring the great outdoors. June 1 – 5 and July 6 – 10.

Artificial Intelligence From basic engineering to DIY electronics, campers will design and build model robots while experimenting from motors to battery power in this robotics based session. June 8 – 12 and July 13 – 17.

Animal Kingdom From spiders to sea birds, campers will discover unique animal habitats while getting hands-on with dissections, bug collecting, and creating animal fossils. June 15 – 19 and July 20 – 24.

Curious Chemistry Campers will discover why chemistry is so significant to the natural sciences through hands-on activities, such as creating flubber and growing salt crystals. June 22 – July 3 and July 27 – 31.

Best of Summer 2015 Aug. 3 – 7.

The one-of-a-kind Music City Science—Transit Adventures camp also returns this summer for rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders. Designed to promote independence and confidence in young adolescents while taking advantage of Nashville’s unique cultural and academic landscapes, this program combines leadership development, science education and environmental stewardship in one exceptional experience. July 6 – 10, July 13 – 17 and July 20 – 24. Transit Campers start each day at the Science Center where they select destinations, plan their route, choose the day’s team leader, and then head out on MTA buses with trained staff to explore the sights and sounds of Music City USA. Supported in part by Nashville MTA. ScienceQuest Camps are led by a dedicated group of certified teachers and college students with an interest in education and/or science, with support from counselors who are Adventure Science Center educators, volunteers and interns. Spring Break and Intersession Camps Still Available ScienceQuest Camp still has space in the March 18 – 20 and March 23 – 27 sessions. The first session, Intersession Sampler, will allow campers to experience favorite courses from past ScienceQuest Camps. The second session will focus on Super Hero Science, where campers investigate the anatomy of a super hero.
