AMERICANAFEST® | Conversation and Performance: Jim Lauderdale's Planet of Love

Each year, AMERICANAFEST® brings together legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars, fans, and industry professionals for multiple days of music and education.

The 21st annual AMERICANAFEST®: The Americana Music Festival & Conference will gather thousands of artists, fans, and industry professionals from all over the world in Nashville, TN.

This year promises to once again be the must-attend event for anyone who loves the melting pot of Americana’s influences including roots, folk, country, blues and soul-based music. Each year, AMERICANAFEST® brings together legendary artists, the next generation of rising stars, fans, and industry professionals for multiple days of music and education.

Today’s performance features: Jim Lauderdale

GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter Jim Lauderdale is one of Americana music’s most significant forces, and recipient of the Americana Music Association’s 2016 Wagonmaster Award. He has released 34 studio albums, and his songs have been recorded by Elvis Costello, the Chicks, George Jones, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Lee Ann Womack, and numerous others. Carolina-born and South Carolina-reared, Lauderdale spent some scuffling 1980s years in New York and Los Angeles before settling in Nashville and recording his major label debut, “Planet of Love,” on Reprise Records. Produced by Rodney Crowell and John Leventhal and featuring harmony vocals from Shawn Colvin and Emmylou Harris, the album was deemed commercially untenable, but most of its songs were later recorded by other artists. Hosted by the museum’s Peter Cooper, Lauderdale will detail the creation of his debut, providing a window into an artist’s triumphs and travails and offering hard-won wisdom.

Please note masks will be required while inside the theater.
