Animals Have Fun Too! | East Side Art Stumble

The first solo exhibition of Jennifer Walker’s whimsical animal paintings opens in early October at Art & Invention Gallery in East Nashville, with the opening reception during the monthly East Side Art Stumble.

An “amateur naturalist and professional make-believer,” Walker draws from the tradition of realism to convincingly portray animals engaged in a variety of playful activities.

Have you ever imagined cicadas taking an afternoon cruise on their tandem bike? How flamingos would fare at playing Twister? From turtles practicing their yoga poses to parachuting ostriches, her work showcases a unique imagination and craftsmanship.

Raised near the Everglades in South Florida, Walker received her BFA from the University of Florida. She maintains her studio and garden just south of Nashville.
