Southern Word will fill the East Branch Library with adult, college, and high school poets performing pieces sparked by these artists’ heroes and influences. In addition to Nashville’s leading spoken word artists, the event will showcase the next generation of writers and leaders from area universities and high schools. The event includes the Freestyle Gallery in which some of the city’s top freestyle artists take prompts from the audience and weave them into powerful messages about the past and future.
