Campology - Day Camps

All year long when school is out, CAMPOLOGY is in! The camps at Discovery Center incorporate play and hands-on inquiry-based learning into each and every day.

Campers experience STEAM-focused lessons packed with innovative games, projects, and activities, all designed to help kids learn, socialize, and have fun!

Each camp offers an opportunity for exploration of museum exhibits and outdoor play, weather permitting. Throughout the school year, CAMPOLOGY is available during special school holidays, offered as one-day camps, and is also available as week-long day camp sessions during fall and spring breaks. When school’s out for summer, Discovery Center offers multiple week-long day camp sessions.

Summer Camp
UPDATE: While they have canceled their previously planned Campology sessions for the 2020 summer season due to COVID-19, they’re launching new options for this summer! These include online camps and limited capacity in-person Campology sessions, following CDC and state of Tennessee guidelines. In addition, the Discovery Center now offers Coding CAMPOLOGY! They will continue to update this page and their social media platforms with more information if and when additional programs are available.

NOTE: In the event of extended closures or cancellations due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Discovery Center will refund 100% of any camp registration fees.

Requirements: Campers must bring their own face masks and wear them for the entire duration of the camp day and will not be allowed to attend camp without one. Campers will have their temperatures taken each day upon arrival. Staff will manage 6 feet of social distancing between campers and will build in plenty of time for hand-washing. Campers must bring their own reusable water bottle and lunch each day. One light snack will be provided; please pack an additional snack if you wish.

Details: Registration is limited to 40 campers total, utilizing the entire museum, outdoor, and wetland areas. Campers will be in groups with a 10:1 camper-to-staff ratio, practicing social distancing within their groups. This means that campers will be in their group of 10 for the entire camp day with their staff counselor, keeping 6 feet of distance from one another. Each camp group will rotate between interactive museum exhibit exploration, science experiments, art activities, wetlands discovery, and outdoor play. Staff will thoroughly disinfect each area between rotations, and campers will be required to wash their hands and use hand sanitizer throughout the day.
