A show of Christmas lights set to music takes place on the Centerville Public Square eight times every night, and all you have to do is park your car and set the radio to 90.1 FM.

The 17-minute presentation takes place on the hour, beginning at 5 p.m., and will continue through early January. Featured is the 30-foot-tall grapevine Christmas tree on the Old Courthouse lawn. Historic Downtown Centerville, which is refurbishing the Old Courthouse, raised funds from local sponsors and hired grapevine artist Ricky Pittman to create the musical light show. Pittman and his company, egrapevinestore.com, built the Christmas tree last year; it’s been submitted to the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest of its particular kind.

The show coordinates hundreds of blinking lights – on the Old Courthouse itself, plus bushes and several smaller grapevine trees – with the sounds of five songs: Amazing Grace, Little Drummer Boy, Carol of the Bells, The First Noel and My Favorite Time of the Year.

Every night, the final show takes place at midnight. There is no charge.
For a preview, you can visit youtube.com and to go “Christmas Light Show,” for separate videos of Amazing Grace and Little Drummer Boy.
