Rossini's Cinderella

Presented by Nashville Opera at Ascend Amphitheater, Nashville TN

Jun 12 2021
Rossini's Cinderella

The Ann & Frank Bumstead Production
Tickets go on sale April 30, 10am.

Nashville Opera is thrilled to return to the stage June 12 with an open-air production of CINDERELLA at Ascend Amphitheater.

(Social, YES. Distanced, of course!*)

Join them outdoors in beautiful downtown Nashville to enjoy a live comedic retelling of this beloved opera. John Hoomes’ original staging of CINDERELLA crosses the effervescent music of Rossini (A.K.A. Barber of Seville) with the madcap beach-party movies of the 60s. The result is a family-friendly night of music and laughs Nashville Opera thinks is the ultimate mashup:  Opera meets Beach Blanket Bingo!

Get ready for thrills and trills as Cinderella and her handsome prince hit the grooviest summer Beach Ball ever.

Music by Giaochino Rossini

Directed by John Hoomes
Conducted by Dean Williamson
Featuring the Nashville Opera Orchestra
Sung in Italian with projected English titles
Special 90-minute adaptation with no intermission

STATEMENT FROM NASHVILLE OPERA: Working with the Metro Heath Department and an advisory team led by Dr. William Schaffner of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, we will offer CINDERELLA for a socially distanced audience of 1500 (≈ 22% venue capacity), complying with all COVID-mitigation guidelines of the City and Ascend.   Chairs will be placed in distanced pods in both the floor and lawn sections, and the performance has been adapted to run 90 minutes without an intermission to further support social-distancing practices. Masks will be required. More information about our COVID protocols will be posted on our website by April 30.

Ascend Amphitheater has a few DON’TS to follow so that you DO have a wonderful time at Cinderella!

  • Don’t bring your regular purse.
  • To reduce staff contact with guest belongings at Ascend Bag Check, only the following will be allowed inside the venue:
    • Clear plastic, vinyl, or pvc bags not to exceed 12” x 12” x 6”.  You can purchase clear totes that are “stadium approved.”  We found examples for around $10 at Amazon.  Order through AmazonSmile, and the Opera even gets a donation from your purchase!
    • Small clutch bags of any material not to exceed  4.5” x 6.5”.   (Coco Chanel always said you just need a lipstick and a $100 bill.)
  • Don’t bring a chair or blanket. Chairs and blankets are not allowed or needed. There will be padded chairs spaced out in the bowl section.  Beach chairs will be pre-set in socially distanced groupings on the lawn.

Don’t bring these prohibited items:
