This spring, the Conscious Aging Book Club will conduct a series of meetings at Parnassus Books for individuals in the Nashville area who aim to age well. The club’s meetings, featuring non-fiction and memoir titles, will be led by author Carol Orsborn, Ph.D. Each meeting is free and open to the public; buy the book, read the book, and join the conversation! This month the club will be reading and discussing The Measure of My Days: One Woman’s Vivid, Enduring, Celebration of Life and Aging by Florida Scott-Maxwell.
“Conscious aging is a new way of viewing growing older as a life stage with purpose, vitality and meaning of its own,” says Orsborn, an internationally-known expert in the aging field and editor of Fierce with Age: The Digest of Boomer Wisdom, Inspiration and Spirituality. “This monthly gathering, the first of its kind in Nashville, will draw upon the wisdom of authors, experts and each another to bust open the stereotypes of aging.” Orsborn, who lives in the Nashville area, received her Masters of Theological Studies and Doctorate in the History and Critical Theory of Religion from Vanderbilt University.
