From the high lonesome sound of Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys, to the classic duets of Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, to the collaborations of country outlaws like Willie and Waylon, vocal harmony plays an integral part in country music. In this fun, interactive, introductory program, professional vocalists Isabel Soehnlen and Andrew Tufano lead participants through the fundamentals of two-part harmony singing. Soehnlen tours extensively through Appalachia and teaches at University School of Nashville and W.O. Smith Music School. Tufano has collaborated with hit songwriters Don Schlitz and Mark Irwin, and recently recorded one hundred songs in one hundred days. Ages 7 and up. Presented in support of the exhibit Outlaws & Armadillos: Country’s Roaring ʼ70s. Taylor Swift Education Center.
