Free Tours of Historic Cold Springs School

Historic Cold Springs School has a storied life; it was once a Confederate military hospital during the Civil War, a church, a school, and a farm building! Enjoy a free tour of this unique space in Portland, Tennessee!

Cold Springs School is an historic display of the Highland Rim Historical Society in Portland (Sumner County), Tennessee. Over the years, Cold Springs School has served a variety of purposes, at one time even serving as a Confederate military hospital at Sumner County’s training camp, Camp Trousdale. Later, another function of the building was as a school in the late 1800s and early 1900s, which is how the building is furnished today for visitors to experience. Learn about this building’s unique history during a free tour of the site on Sundays throughout the summer!
