The Metro Nashville Public Health Department is offering Freedom From Smoking for individuals committed to quitting smoking.
The Metro Nashville Public Health Department is offering this course for individuals committed to quitting smoking. Beginning Jan. 17, the in-person group clinics include eight sessions over the course of seven weeks with a small group of 8 to 16 people. Led by a certified American Lung Association-trained facilitator, the program features a step-by-step plan for quitting smoking and transitioning to a smoke-free lifestyle. Each session is designed to help smokers gain control over their behavior, and because no single quit plan is effective for all smokers, the program has a variety of evidence-based techniques for individuals to combine into their own plan to quit smoking. Participants are encouraged to work on the process and problems of quitting, individually and as part of a group. The course will be held at the Lentz Public Health Center. Participants will need to complete a registration form. Payments will be taken online and on-site, a week in advance. Payment methods accepted include credit card, cash, check or money order. All fees are non-refundable.
