Appalachia Meets Latin America is an exciting project blending music traditions of Appalachia with folkloric music traditions of Latin America, showcasing their commonalities while driving home the benefits of cross-cultural sharing and respect. Appalatin shares stories, songs and music from their diverse homelands (Nicaragua, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico and Kentucky), blending instruments largely associated with American bluegrass and folk with traditional instruments from Latin America. Their foot-stomping, hip-swinging style fuses Applachian folk and high-energy Latin music in an all-acoustic performance combining guitar, mandolin, upright bass and charango, indigenous Andean flutes, percussion, harmonica and vocal harmonies.
