Grand Master Fiddler Championship

Grand Master Fiddler Championship

The two-day Grand Master Fiddler Championship determines the top fiddler in North America. Held annually between 1972 and 1997 at now-defunct theme park Opryland USA, the event resumed in 2005 as part of the International Bluegrass Music Association’s annual Fan Fest. In 2013, the contest moved to the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. Past winners, such as Mark O’Connor and Jimmy Mattingly, have gone on to successful recording and touring careers. Competition rounds will take place over two days, interspersed with performances. The new Grand Master Fiddler Champion will make an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry at a later date.

GMFC Workers, Volunteers, Entertainers, MCs, AND Contestants and Accompanists (anyone that’s not just a bystander to the competition) will need to be rapid tested. Rapid testing will be funded by the Museum. Testing will be done on the Crump Terrace (or just inside the door behind contestant registration should weather be an issue) from 7am–1pm on Saturday and 8am–1pm on Sunday. Once they receive a negative test, they will receive a wristband, which will be a different color each day. If you test positive, you will not be able to participate. Social distancing is not required, masks are not required.
