Hands On Nashville: ReCYCLE For Kids

ReCYCLE For Kids is a volunteer-powered initiative that collects, restores and connects bicycles with youth in underserved neighborhoods.

Hands On Nashville’s fifth annual ReCYCLE For Kids Bike Giveaway takes place on July 29, 2017. Through ReCYCLE For Kids, Hands On Nashville collects gently used bikes, which volunteers refurbish at the Oasis Bike Workshop prior to the giveaway.

The giveaway event, taking place at the Coleman Park Community Center, connects bikes, safety training, and more to youth who may not otherwise have the opportunity to own a bicycle. Volunteers help children “shop” for correctly sized bicycles, fit helmets, lead safety instruction and more.

This effort encourages the re-use and recycling of materials to support active youth lifestyles and access to community resources. Since 2012, ReCYCLE has engaged 1,600 volunteers to connecting nearly 1,000 youth with bicycles!

Free; Registration is required to participate.
