The Historic Mansker’s Station Home School Program offers educational classes for students ages 8-14 on designated Wednesdays throughout the year.
March 6 – Tennessee Wild Frontier: Join Carol Edwards from Davidson Co. Soil & Water Conservation Dept. as she identifies several of the common Tennessee wildlife using furs, pelts, and tracks. Come and learn about their habitat and where they find food and shelter.
March 13 – Learning the Lucet: Step back to the Tennessee frontier and learn the history of the lucet and how children used it to make cording from wool and flax for everyday use.
March 20 – Painting: Join Brenda Frey as she gives step-by-step instructions on how to paint on canvas using acrylic paints. All supplies are included.
March 27 – Spring Time on the Cumberland: Get dirty by helping to plant flax at the Bowen House, work in the herb beds at Mansker’s Fort, and make dirt balls with flower seeds to take home and plant. Also help the docents with some spring cleaning chores at the Bowen House and Mansker’s Fort.
