Holiday Magic on Main
Get ready to usher in the holiday season this December alongside all of your favorite restaurants and shops throughout Franklin’s Historic Main Street district.
Beginning November 28 and running through December 31, 2020, the Heritage Foundation of Williamson County, TN and its division, the Downtown Franklin Association (DFA), have partnered with Visit Franklin and the City of Franklin to celebrate Holiday Magic on Main during the Christmas season.
Downtown Franklin is not to be missed at Christmastime and this year America’s Favorite Main Street district will be celebrating safely, with shopping options for unique gifts from locally owned retailers, a variety of restaurants perfect for memorable family meals and plenty of spots throughout downtown Franklin to take that perfect keepsake photo.
The event will officially begin with the lighting of the iconic NOEL sign atop the White Building at Main Street and Fifth Avenue and will continue throughout the month of December.
Here are a few important dates:
November 28 – Small Business Saturday Participating downtown merchants will offer special discounts, promotions and showcase holiday window displays. After the devastating shutdown earlier this year, the merchants have worked hard to recover and make the most out of a crisis.
Small Business Saturday Specials:
Jondie (412 Main St) and Mimi & Dottie (407 Main St): will be doing giveaways and free gifts with every $30-, $70- and $150 purchase. They will also offer some in-store promotions and complimentary gift wrapping.
Frothy Monkey (125 Fifth Ave South): will feature a few seasonal drinks including Eggnog Lattes, White Mochas, and “Mint for Cold Weather,” which is steamed milk + matcha + mocha + house-made orange + mint syrup. Folks also can order holiday treats made by their bakery (BAKERY by frothy monkey) that can be picked up for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas. Orders can be placed at frothycheer.com.
Savory Spice Shop (324 Main St): purchase $100 in spices and get $100 in gift cards (10 – $10 cards) to be used in 2021.
OAK (214 East Main): Open from 9pm to 6,pm with 15% off in store and online. The first 20 shoppers will get a free gift.
Nov. 28, Dec. 5, Dec. 12 and Dec. 19 – Free public transportation between The Factory at Franklin and Downtown Franklin. The DFA is working with the TMA Group, Franklin’s public transportation service, to offer free shuttles every Saturday during this promotion from 10am to 5pm.
Thursday, Nov. 27 Virtual Christmas Tree Lighting. Another favorite annual downtown event will look different this year: the lighting of the city’s Christmas tree on the public square. The tree lighting will be virtual, with the return of The Shindellas along with the Freedom Intermediate School Choir and other special guests for a fun virtual program to air Thanksgiving evening on the city’s social media channels and Franklin TV. Citizens are invited to watch the tree lighting online after their Thanksgiving meal and visit downtown later that evening and throughout the Holiday Magic on Main season to see the beautifully lit Christmas tree on the square.
Friday, December 11 Historic First Presbyterian Church will be offering a ‘live nativity’ in front of the sanctuary on Main Street at 5th Avenue from 5pm to 6pm. Shepherds and wise people will be coming and going throughout the hour and recorded music will be playing.
Holiday Magic on Main also will feature pop-up appearances by everyone’s favorite Dickens characters as well as period dancers and live musicians performing Christmas music.
