Explore the magic of indigo dyeing techniques. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn about the history of indigo as a dye and its applications in cultures across the globe.

Explore the magic of indigo dyeing techniques. In this hands-on workshop, students will learn about the history of indigo as a dye and its applications in cultures across the globe. Students will learn how to prepare a dye vat and various techniques for creating patterns and marks by folding and clamping (itajime), wrapping (arashi), and other mark-making processes. Students will have plenty of fabric to practice with and all students will leave with hand-dyed tea towels and scarves. Wear clothes you do not mind getting dye on (indigo can be a messy process). All materials provided.
