The International Black Film Festival

After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the 2021 International Black Film Festival- Nashville (IBFF) due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival will now take place virtually, streaming fully from our festival platform on December 2-5.

At present, Nashville is in the midst of an active Delta variant surge, and the number of daily infections & hospitalizations continues to trend upward. Unfortunately, this cautions against our gathering together for an in-person festival; nevertheless, we remain committed to delivering a  film festival that is both entertaining and resourceful, distinctive in the range of themes represented in our films. This has been a challenging time for us all.  But we remain optimistic that our efforts to keep healthy and excited about the coming days will lead to a memorable festival.

A playlist of exceptional films live and pre-recorded panels, and intimate conversations will be available each day of the festival, easily accessed by going to our website at and clicking on “Watch Now”. Our website also will provide pre-festival information–filmmaker news, trailers, film posters, screening times, etc.

While we are saddened that an in-person event is not feasible, we are committed to ensuring the health and safety of the public while also providing a platform for emerging filmmakers to showcase their films.

Please direct all inquiries about the festival to our Contact Media Representative: Tana McDonald,, 615-509-3072.

As the world gradually opens back up, the International Black Film Festival (IBFF) knows that the art of storytelling is even more important as it sustained people through some pretty tough times. People watched more TV and movies than ever, amplified the gift of music to soothe their souls, and dedicated more time to their creative processes.

While the IBFF are still being cautious and mindful of the times, they are excited to host the 16th Annual International Black Film Festival from September 30th to October 3rd in Nashville, TN.  They will engage their audience with virtual and limited in-person screenings, panels, networking events, and entertainment.
