James B. Hawkins Sumner County Student Art Show Reception

The 45th Annual James B. Hawkins Sumner County Student Art Show is sponsored by Nossi College of Art and is open to all Sumner County middle and high school students.

The 45th Annual James B. Hawkins Sumner County Student Art Show is sponsored by Nossi College of Art and is open to all Sumner County middle and high school students. Each school will be allowed to enter up to 12 pieces of artwork in six categories: Drawing, Painting, 3D Sculpture, Digital Art, Photography, and Mixed Media. Ted Rose, chair of the Art Department at Cumberland University in Lebanon, Tennessee, Lois Riggins-Ezzell, Director Emeritus of the Tennessee State Museum, and Leigh Hendry, Curator for Park West Gallery, will judge this year’s exhibition.

For the second year, the longest-running art exhibition in Sumner County will now bear the name of one of the region’s most beloved public figures. In January 2020, the Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center’s board of directors voted to name its Sumner County Student Art Show after James B. Hawkins, the Sumner County School Board member who passed away Dec. 6, 2019 following a months-long battle with cancer.
The James B. Hawkins Sumner County Student Art Show will run April 11th – May 2nd at Hendersonville’s Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center.
