Akil Thompson was born in Los Angeles, Ca in 1979 to Chester and Rosalind Thompson. Both of his parents are prolific musicians and gave Akil a rich musical heritage to grow up under.

Akil has had the opportunity to perform with Kelly Clarkson, Little Big Town, Jonny Lang, LeAnn Rimes, Joss Stone, Jewel, Shy Carter, Nick Carter of “The Backstreet Boys,” tobymac, Stacie Orrico, Mark Shultz, Kaci Brown, The Temptations, Israel Houghton, Rachael Lampa, Paul Baloche and many others.
