Jesus Christ Superstar

Circle Players launches the 67th Season with a high-energy, modernized take on the rock opera JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR. Director Jason Lewis and team will stage a production featuring “celebrity culture and faith in the modern age of terrorism” — a timeless story reborn for a new generation consumed with social and political unrest. Circle’s production stays true to the original script in telling the story of Jesus Christ’s final days as seen through the eyes of his betrayer, Judas Iscariot. JCS is almost entirely sung-through as created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, propelled by a hard-rock score dotted with familiar tunes such as the majestic title song “Superstar” and the folksy ballad “I Don’t Know How To Love Him” sung by Mary Magdalene. With emotional intensity and thought-provoking edge, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR “… illuminates the transcendant power of the human spirit with passion that goes to the heart.” (In collaboration with TSU Theatre Program)
