Lightning 100’s Spring Block Party!
Firmly a phenomenon in their home country of Iceland, the four-piece band Kaleo is set to descend upon foreign shores in 2015, bringing their gorgeous blend of folk, blues, country, and rock to a wider mainstream audience in America. Their isolated heritage inspires a unique take on familiar sonic elements, resulting in diversity and freedom on each and every breathtaking track. Now, signed to Atlantic Records in the US, Kaleo has moved to Austin, Texas, and will begin recording new material with producer Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys, Jake Bugg) in London for an EP due this year. Get ready for the sound.
Matt Walberg has made a name for himself as a high-energy, theatrical singer/songwriter with an emphasis on crowd participation. Currently fronting Nashville, TN’s Americana Rock band Matt Walberg & The Living Situation – Walberg also performs regularly with other artists as a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist highlighting his skill as a full-blooded entertainer.
Future Thieves recently finished recording their first effort earlier this year and are set to release three new singles later this summer. All tracks are impressively played, engineered, and produced by Future Thieves in their home studio Nashville Music House in Nashville, TN.
Roots Of A Rebellion, commonly referred to as ROAR, hail from Nashville, TN and bolster heavy Reggae-Rock-Dub music for the soul. In between regional touring, ROAR has recently released their debut full length album “Heartifact” to a sold out crowd at The Basement in Nashville. Having shared the stage with The Wailers, NEEDTOBREATHE, Slightly Stoopid, moe, North Mississippi Allstars, SOJA, and countless others, Roots of a Rebellion is happy to represent another side to Music City, USA.
As if creeping from the Southern swamps and mist-soaked cotton fields, SIMO’s “Stranger Blues” is the perfect table setter for the Nashville power trio’s vibrant new LP, Let Love Show the Way. The song is a blueprint for reinvigorating the fusion of jazz improvisation, downhome blues and classic R&B, as well as these genres’ psychedelic Brit Invasion and countrified Southern-rock manifestations. The rest of the record follows suit, a souped-up vehicle transporting the band on a deeply satisfying, off-the-cuff musical journey.
