Surrounded by a family of singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists, Kyshona Armstrong didn’t have to search far to find musical inspiration. With a natural gift for using music to tap into emotion, she began her career in music therapy, helping others find a voice and tell their stories. She now uses the same approach in developing her own bluesy and soulful style of music. Specifically, when she channels her grandfather’s power and conviction on songs like “Can You Feel It” “Alma Ree” and “Heaven is a Beautiful Place”, the listener has no choice but to clap and rock along with her rustic soul rhythms.
Her latest album, Go, shows off vocal stylings that are reminiscent of Ruthie Foster, and a songwriting flavor similar to Dionne Farris. Dubbed one of “The Top 5 Roots Acts to Watch in 2015” by CMT Edge and “The Biggest Voice in America” by NACA (National Association of Campus Activities), Kyshona will continue to wow crowds as she tours the country playing for all who will listen.
