Harris will provide insight on the global corporation’s work in serving an evolving base of multicultural consumers, strengthening its pipeline to recruit, retain and advance diverse talent, and supporting minority business owners and community initiatives through citizenship engagement.
During his 30-year-tenure at BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Harris has held a number of different management level positions. As vice president of diversity and inclusion, Harris’s goal is to cultivate a corporate culture where diversity and inclusion are aligned with the company’s corporate strategies and values. Among other accolades over his career, Harris was nominated for the Robert Shaw Symbol of Hope Award. He has also been featured in the Equal Opportunity Publication, as well as the African American Career World Magazines.
Harris is not just a strong role model for the African American community, he is also a strong advocate for women’s rights. In 2015, he was named to Chattanooga’s “Top five men promoting women in Chattanooga,” list by the Chattanooga’s Leadership Institute. Ronald frequently serves as an expert speaker at business functions and conferences nationwide on diversity topics that impact the workplace. His presentations address issues such as generational diversity, disability awareness, stereotypes, effective cross-cultural communication, religion in the workplace and the business case for diversity.
