Nashville-based instrumental combo Loco Vibrato’s self-described “cowboy instrumentals and gringo jazz” incorporates decades of rock, country, jazz, surf and blues stylings into a uniquely accessible sound at once exotic and familiar. From the basic building blocks of drums, bass and electric guitar, they construct ornate musical structures that invite the listener to come inside and explore. All three members are avid music collectors and fans, bringing their passion to the fore with each performance. In their hands, a familiar classic like The Beatles’ “For No One” evolves into a pensive elegy, unmasking new depths of emotion. Likewise, Jimmy Webb’s “Wichita Lineman” becomes a glowing encomium to its storied songwriter and a celebration of music’s moving power.
