The Lord is not on Trial Here - Landmark Supreme Court Case on Religious Liberty

James T. McCollum was the child in the landmark case of the Supreme Court, McCollum v. Board of Education. The one-hour Peabody Award-winning documentary film on the case, “The Lord was not on Trial Here Today,” will be shown.

Attorney McCollum was to have led discussion, but his wife’s health problem prevents attendance. Discussion will still take place. The 8 to 1 decision said religious instruction in the public schools violated the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. The Court defined the meaning of the Establishment Clause, which was involved in many subsequent cases. Hear what indignities the family suffered because of the suit.

Are there other events involved with this visit?  Yes, there is a Sunday morning discussion.  You may ask about details.

“The Lord is not on Trial” is by Jim’s brother. Literature about religious liberty will be available.
