LUTHI w/ Travollta Present: The Winter Formal ft. Boogie+
LUTHI is a genre-spanning treat for your ears. Combining influences that draw from the soul and Americana acts of the 60’s to the psychedelic funk and groove of the 70’s and lead by frontman Christian Luthi, this eclectic collective is as lyrically driven as it is instrumentally sound. Each song is timeless and leaves you with a hook you can’t deny. “..unreal vocals..hypnotizing stage presence, and contagious, fun energy” – says Live For Live Music. The band has honed in on their creative sound and identity over years of touring and session work with an array of renowned producers and musicians. They’ve earned dates along their journey with Rainbow Kitten Surprise, Moon Taxi, The Wailers, and Magic City Hippies in addition to festival slots at Hangout Fest, Bonnaroo, 420 Fest, Hulaween, and more.
Travollta prefers to show rather than tell. But if you ask passers-by from the 2021 Tomato Arts Fest or The Basement’s Get Happier Friday series, you’ll hear them described as “interesting” or “quite something.” With some ephemeral connection to Atticus Swartwood & Andy Heath (Tayls, Chalaxy, Molly Rocket, Canopy, etc.), the group insists that dance-punk is ‘back’ and they will bring as many drum machines and synthesizers and kicks and Topo Chicos as needed to convince you of that. If you don’t have a little bit of fun at their set you are legally allowed to stick one (1) finger into one (1) item from their lunch.
