This spring David Lusk Gallery Nashville exhibits Variations on a Theme, new paintings and collages from Chattanooga, Tennessee artist Mark Bradley-Shoup.
Bradley-Shoup takes a pluralist approach when it comes to his studio practice; he does not dedicate himself to a singular vision or routine of creating images. The intention of both his abstract and representational addresses the theme of expansions and recession/consumption and growth. He depicts the elegance of brutality.
The majority of his work is derived from observations and interaction with the place where the natural and constructed landscape meet. Bradley-Shoup studies how mankind inhabits and utilizes the environment. He uses careful research and documentation, mapping and architectural schematics to address his vision of a sense of place.
