Michael Conley and Meredith Rounsley
Singer-Songwriter Meredith Rounsley creates folk-pop music steeped in organic instrumentation and candid storytelling. With influences from early aughts songwriters like Feist, Norah Jones, and KT Tunstall, Rounsley weaves together songs about becoming with warm vocals and an intimate lightness.
Rounsley grew up in rural Maryland on a mixture of soul, gospel, and top 40 radio. After a brief stint of music making in Australia during college, she made the move to Nashville where she began to expand her artistry. “Coming to Nashville is like plugging into a light socket,” she says. “There is an energy and a community here that makes space for really raw, honest songwriting.”
That energy is showcased on her 2021 project Ember, a four EP touching on love, anxiety and personal growth. Released against the backdrop of a global pandemic, Ember was met with a warm local response, including a spot on Lightning 100’s “the 615” and an outdoor celebration in her hometown.
To see Rounsley perform live is to know her. She’s toured nationally and premiered at esteemed singer-songwriter venues like Hotel Cafe, The Basement, and Rockwood Music Hall. Each show is part music and part confessional; an exchange of deeply personal songs and the stories that built them couched in her off-the-cuff delivery.
