Music for Seniors FREE Daytime Concert Series | Richard Griffin Quartet

Join Music for Seniors for a soul-filled hour of music featuring Richard Griffin and his red-hot R&B quartet at the Larry Keeton Theatre in Donelson. RSVPs required.

Each month, Nashville-based non-profit arts organization Music for Seniors presents a daytime concert designed for older adult audiences.  These concerts are designed and presented especially for the senior public’s enjoyment.  They are one-hour in length and they are always free and open to seniors, their caregivers and friends.

In May, the Richard Griffin Quartet will share an hour of soul-filled music with us.  Griffin has shared the stage with some of the finest musicians in the jazz and pop world.  Lonnie Smith, Tom Browne, Noel Pointer, Victor Wooton, The Memphis Horns, Steve Cropper, Millie Jackson, B.T. Express, Sister Sledge, Jeff Coffin and Kirk Whalum, just to name a few. His musical influences include Grover Washington Jr., Dexter Gordon, Maceo Parker, Stanley Turrentine, Charlie “Bird” Parker and others.

Griffin received his music degree from Lane College in Jackson, TN and post graduate work in jazz studies at Youngstown State University (Youngstown, OH).  Richard also has a Master’s Degree from Trevecca Nazarene University (Nashville, TN).  His musical endeavors have taken him all over the world; Europe, Asia, South America, the South Pacific, and throughout the United States.  Richard is the Director of Bands and Jazz Studies at the Nashville School of the Arts. He is also a proud member of the 129th Army National Guard Band, in which he conducts the jazz ensemble and is the drum major of the marching band.  Richard is originally from Erie, PA, but he has resided in Nashville for almost 20 years.
