NJW Summer Jazz Camps

The NJW Summer Jazz Camps are for students ages 13-19, and are suitable for all instruments and vocalists.

The Instrumental camp for 2015 will be June 15-19. Led by saxophonist Evan Cobb, the jazz camp features ensembles, masterclasses, ear-training, repertoire building, music theory, jam sessions and more! Students will have the opportunity to play, learn, and have a great time all while preparing for an end-of-camp concert on Friday, June 20. Auditions for the Summer Jazz camps: Saturday, May 9. We will be carefully filling the spots of just three ensembles, so space is limited and determined by instrument. Register online.

The Vocal Jazz Camp for 2015 will be June 22-26. Directed by award-winning vocalists Liz Johnson & Connye Florance, the vocal camp features a faculty of Nashville's finest professional jazz artists. Students will learn jazz repertoire, phrasing / vocal expression, sight reading / theory, improvisation, lyric analysis / interpretation, stage performance fundamentals . . . and more! There will be a concert performance finale on Friday, June 27. Auditions for the Summer Jazz camps: Saturday, May 9. (Vocal camp auditions are for scholarship assistance.) Register online.
