NPT's Free Screening of 'The Providers'

Presented by Nashville Public Television and Watkins College of Art at Watkins College of Art, Nashville TN

Mar 07 2019
NPT's Free Screening of 'The Providers'

A free film screening and community discussion.

Join NPT and Watkins College of Art on for a free Indie Lens Pop-Up event featuring The Providers. The screening takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Watkins theater. Afterward, there will be a discussion with Rebecca Jolley, executive director of the Rural Health Association of Tennessee, a non-profit, member driven association that serves rural healthcare professionals through advocacy, education and communication.

Set against the backdrop of the physician shortage and opioid epidemic in rural America, The Providers follows three “country doctors” in New Mexico at clinics offering care to all, regardless of ability to pay. As their personal struggles at times reflect those of their patients, the providers work to reach rural Americans who would otherwise be left without healthcare.

Independent Lens airs Mondays on NPT.
