NPT's The Neutral Ground Screening and Panel Discussion

An online screening and discussion of ‘The Neutral Ground’ documentary.

Join NPT and MTSU’s Center for Historic Preservation for a virtual screening and panel discussion of the documentary The Neutral Ground.

The Neutral Ground documents New Orleans’ fight over monuments and America’s troubled romance with the Lost Cause. In 2015, director CJ Hunt was filming the New Orleans City Council’s vote to remove four Confederate monuments. But when that removal is halted by death threats, Hunt sets out to understand why a losing army from 1865 still holds so much power in America.

After the screening, local experts Doris McMillian, Tennessee Historical Commission board member; Eric Jacobson, executive director of the Battle of Nashville Trust; and others will participate in a panel discussion that may address Tennessee’s own history and monuments.

This free program is made possible by a grant from American Documentary | POV, with funding provided by the Open Society Foundations.
