Joseph Powell is a writer, spoken word artist, and the author of four collections of poetry ,including The Spirit Of Baldwin Compels Me. His poems have been featured in vox poetica, WORDPEACE, Marble Hand, Wilderness House Literary Review, The Blue Mountain Review, Trouvaille Review, the Santa Clara Review, The Freedom Papers, 2020: The Year That Changed America and the 2022 calendar, “Begin Again from Poetry In The Boro”. Powell was a featured poet in the PBS/National Geographic documentary, Skin, and has performed around the country, including the Southern Festival Of Books, the Tucson Festival Of Books, and the Austin International Poetry Festival. Powell lives outside of Nashville, TN with his wife, Cindi and dog, Hendrix.
