POSTPONED Jazz on the Triangle with Marcus Finnie
The annual series Jazz on the Triangle returns to the Church of the Holy Trinity for the twenty-fifth season this year. It’s their Silver Anniversary! Concerts will be the April 19th, May 17th, and June 21st, featuring some of Nashville’s finest and most respected talent.
On April 19th opens the series with drummer Marcus Finnie and friends.
A Memphis native, Marcus Finnie began playing drums at church accompanying his mother on organ. At age 4 he sat in with a band on Beale Street at Rum Boogie Cafe. While in school, he played drums at Olivet Baptist Church every Sunday morning and night and then at a club after church. Marcus studies at MTSU, playing in all the bands and studying Recording Arts
After college, one gig led to another that led to another. Shortly after college he got the call to go on the road with Donna Summer, and this in turn meeting many others and touring with many name artists.
While living in Nashville, Marcus has recorded, toured and performed with Keb Mo, Taj Mahal, Lady Antebellum, India Arie, Lalah Hathaway, Nelly, Sheléa, G-Love and Special Sauce, Ana Popovic, Jacob Whitesides, Michael McDonald, Take 6 and several others. Marcus continues to record and tour all the while teaching and giving clinics. He also writes, produces and arranges R&B, pop and jazz. Come join Marcus and his group for a grand afternoon of jazz. Marcus is well-known and loved in Nashville Jazz circles.
