River Talks | Centennial Park: A Public Ecology
Please note, this event has expired.
Chris Barkley, a Partner with Hodgson Douglas Landscape Architects, worked alongside Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, Metro Nashville Parks, Metro Water Services and the Conservancy for the Parthenon and Centennial Park to design and construct the most recent Master Plan Update and implement Phases One and Two of Centennial Park. The design team sought to create a design that honors the unique and rich history of Centennial Park, while celebrating the existing physical features of the site, creating a place for all Nashvillians to experience their shared ecology.
Chris will use Nashville’s Centennial Park to explore the Sustainable SITES Initiative that evaluates sustainable landscapes and encourages reduced water demand, filtration and reduction of stormwater runoff, creation of wildlife habitat, reduction of energy consumption, improved air quality, improved human health, and increased outdoor recreation opportunities.
This River Talk will be on-site at Centennial Park and include a 30-40 minute walking tour.
River Talks are free, but you need to register ahead of time.
