Panel Discussion: From Bluegrass to Country-Rock with Rodney Dillard, Chris Hillman, Bernie Leadon, John McEuen, Larry Murray and Herb Pedersen
Rodney Dillard, Chris Hillman, Bernie Leadon, John McEuen, Larry Murray and Herb Pederson will discuss the bluegrass influences that led to the creation of the Los Angeles country-rock music scene.
Rodney Dillard is a member of the bluegrass band the Dillards, who were also known as the fictional Darling family on The Andy Griffith Show.
Chris Hillman began his music career playing with the bluegrass groups the Scottsville Squirrel Barkers and the Golden State Boys and went on to perform as part of the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers and the Desert Rose Band.
Before he was a founding member of Eagles, Bernie Leadon was part of country-rock bands Dillard & Clark, the Flying Burrito Brothers and Hearts and Flowers.
John McEuen is a founding member of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and a solo artist. He has also contributed to albums by Steve Martin and Michael Martin Murphey.
Larry Murray was a member of Hearts and Flowers and the Scottsville Squirrel Barkers, and his songs have been recorded by the Byrds, David Allen Coe and Country Music Hall of Fame member Kris Kristofferson.
Herb Pedersen was a member of the Desert Rose Band and the Laurel Canyon Ramblers. He has worked with Country Music Hall of Fame member Emmylou Harris, Chris Hillman, Country Music Hall of Fame member Kris Kristofferson, Gram Parsons, John Prine, Linda Ronstadt, and Country Music Hall of Fame member Earl Scruggs.
