Singles Celebrate Shakespeare in the Park

The Nashville tradition of Shakespeare in the Park has proven to be an enjoyable experience for families, seniors, children and now for Christian singles ages 30 – 50. Elevate is the new group for Christian single adults ages 30 – 50 from throughout the Middle Tennessee area. The group welcomes all who are interested in their monthly events. Past examples include a Sounds game, a Radnor Lake nature hike featuring a naturalist and activities with other Christian singles groups. For information about the upcoming August event, contact Christa at csimpson.tn@gmail.com.

Henry V, featuring the music of The Princely Players, is about enemies who come together on a Tennessee battlefield toward the end of the Civil War on the eve of battle to enact Shakespeare’s play about the young king of England who leads his nation in a war against France. The Elevate group will arrive on Saturday, August 29, at the Centennial Park Bandshell at 6:00 for good seating and the 6:30 pre-show entertainment. All are encouraged to purchase dinner at the food trucks found at Centennial Park and picnic together. The performance begins at 7:30 pm. Lawn chairs or blankets are encouraged. Elevate participants are asked to RSVP by Friday, August 28, to csimpson.tn@gmail.com.

The closest parking to the Centennial Park Bandshell is on 25th Ave., yet there is parking available throughout the Park, including special event parking in the center of the Park and parking lots next to the Parthenon and along the main drive. In accordance with Metro Parks policy, there is no parking on the grass except in the posted “Special Event Parking” area. Parking is also available at Centennial Sportsplex across 25th Avenue. Shakespeare in the Park requests a $10 donation. Since the event is outdoors, the Elevate group will cancel its own gathering in case of rain.

Elevate is part of Brentwood United Methodist Church. For more information about Elevate, call 615-934-5087; for more information about Brentwood United Methodist Church, call 615-373-3663 or visit www.BUMC.net.
