Songwriter Session: Don Schlitz

During Songwriter Sessions at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, fans get a chance to meet the minds behind some of country music’s biggest hits, as respected songwriters share the stories behind their work in an intimate performance setting,

Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Schlitz launched his songwriting career with the Kenny Rogers classic “The Gambler.” He also wrote the Rogers hits “The Greatest” and “You Can’t Make Old Friends.” Among the other hits in Schlitz’s catalog are “Forever and Ever, Amen” (Randy Travis), “Give Me Wings” (Michael Johnson), “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her” (Mary Chapin Carpenter), “On the Other Hand” (Randy Travis), “Rockin’ with the Rhythm of the Rain” (The Judds), “Strong Enough to Bend” (Tanya Tucker), and “When You Say Nothing at All” (Alison Krauss, Keith Whitley). Schlitz is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has won many ACM, ASCAP, CMA, and Grammy awards. Presented by SunTrust. Instagram Live @officialcmhof.

Tune in to Instagram Live every Tuesday at 8pm/CDT for songs and stories from hit songwriters. This interactive program is a spinoff of the museum’s popular Saturday Songwriter Session, a live performance—in which audience questions are welcome—offered weekly in the museum’s Ford Theater. The museum brings this program to your home online through Instagram Live. Presented by SunTrust with support from Metro Nashville Arts Commission and Tennessee Arts Commission.
