Songwriter Session: Mac McAnally

The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum holds weekly Songwriter Sessions on Instagram Live. During these sessions, viewers hear from the talents behind country music’s biggest hits.

Mac McAnally is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and wrote “All These Years” and “Thank God For You” (Sawyer Brown), “Back Where I Come From” and “Down the Road” (Kenny Chesney), “Old Flame” (Alabama), “Precious Thing” (Steve Wariner), “Two Dozen Roses” (Shenandoah), and “You’re My First Lady” (T.G. Sheppard). His songs have also been recorded by David Allan Coe, Ronnie Dunn, Sammy Kershaw, Charley Pride, and Ricky Van Shelton. McAnally has recorded more than a dozen albums, including his most recent, Once in a Lifetime. As an acclaimed acoustic guitarist, McAnally has won CMA Musician of the Year for an unprecedented ten consecutive years and has played on many hit recordings. McAnally works closely with Jimmy Buffett as touring musician, writer, and producer.

Tune in to Instagram Live every Tuesday at 8PM CDT for songs and stories from hit songwriters. This program is a spinoff of the museum’s popular Saturday Songwriter Session, a live performance offered weekly in the museum’s Ford Theater. The museum brings this program to your home online through Instagram Live.

Presented by SunTrust with support from Metro Nashville Arts Commission and Tennessee Arts Commission.
