Please note, this event has expired.
The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum holds weekly Songwriter Sessions streamed on the museum’s website, Facebook page and YouTube channel. Following the program, fans can join us on Instagram for a live Q&A session with that week’s guest.
Philadelphia native Ray Benson has served as an ambassador for western swing since forming Asleep at the Wheel in Paw Paw, West Virginia, in 1970. The band spent a couple of years in Berkeley, California, before relocating to Austin, Texas, in 1974, at the encouragement of Willie Nelson. The nine-time Grammy winner’s songwriting credits include “Am I High?,” “Boogie Back to Texas,” “Bump Bounce Boogie,” “Feelin’ Haggard” and “The Letter That Johnny Walker Read.” In celebration of the band’s fifty-year anniversary, PBS will air a special on October 31 featuring clips from the band’s many appearances on Austin City Limits, entitled, ACL Presents: 50 Years of Asleep at the Wheel. Presented in support of the exhibit Outlaws & Armadillos: Country’s Roaring ’70s. Presented by SunTrust. Streamed live at www.countrymusichalloffame.org/streaming and the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Following his Songwriter Session performance, Ray Benson joins Instagram Live at 8pm to answer questions from the audience.
