Please note, this event has expired.
New works by Maggie Rose, Stone | Flesh | Paint will be on view at LeQurie December 12, 2017, through January 20, 2018. Rose, renowned for her paintings of white shirts and bovines, was inspired for this new collection by antique sculptures such as those by Jean J. Pradier.
Maggie Rose is a Canadian artist who teaches at the New York Academy of Art. After graduating cum laude from the Academy in 2001, Maggie continued her training at the Michael Aviano Atelier and studied drawing with Michael Grimaldi. She now paints full time and is passionate about teaching and passing on the training. Maggie’s work is primarily figurative. She prefers to work from life and often sculpts small figurines when working on subjects that require photo reference. Her primary focus is the continued exploration of the human body, of the color and translucency of flesh. Maggie has exhibited her work at various galleries in addition to numerous juried exhibitions at venues such as Phillips de Pury, Sotheby’s and Christies.
