Presented by Frist Art Museum at Frist Art Museum, Nashville TN

Oct 16 2021
Teen ARTlab: Patterned Textiles

Presented by Yanira Vissepo.

In this workshop with teaching artist Yanira Vissepo, participants will acquire basic skills for designing and making their own patterned textiles.

Attendees will sketch and create their own designs, then use techniques such as stenciling and block printing to transfer images onto fabric, with an emphasis on pattern making.

This workshop is for ages 13–19 only.

Yanira Vissepo is a multidisciplinary artist focusing on printmaking and textile art. Her woodblock designs reflect her time studying traditional techniques in Japan. Vissepo merges the traditional with the new, utilizing the mokuhanga printing technique as the translator. She has worked with various mediums that involve printmaking, including free-form tapestries, block-printed textiles, and soft sculptures, as well as works on paper. She attended The International School of Mokuhanga in 2019 and was the artist-in-residence at Coop Gallery in 2020.
