Tennessee Book Club: Tennessee Statesman Harry T. Burn

Presented by TEMPORARILY CLOSED Tennessee State Museum at Online, Nashville TN

Jul 09 2020
Tennessee Book Club: Tennessee Statesman Harry T. Burn

After reading a letter from his mother, Febb Burn, Harry T. Burn cast the deciding vote to ratify the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, granting suffrage rights to millions of American women. Born and raised in McMinn County, he served in Tennessee government in various capacities for many years, including terms in the state senate and as delegate to state constitutional conventions. Now, a hundred years later, Burn’s great-grandnephew gives us a deeper appreciation of the life and work of the statesmen. As the state commemorates the centennial of the 19th Amendment passing in Tennessee, join the museum for a vibrant discussion about the book and a tour of their women’s suffrage exhibit.

RSVP throught Eventbrite to let them know you’ll be attending one of the discussions.
