The Constitution Uncorked

Join the ACLU in celebrating Tennessee’s civil liberties and civil rights leaders!

Please join us for ACLU-TN’s annual fundraiser, “The Constitution Uncorked,” to celebrate our crucial work and 2019 Lifetime Achievement honoree, Susan L. Kay. A law professor and associate dean at Vanderbilt University Law School, Kay has been a tenacious champion of criminal justice reform in our state. Her lifetime dedication to criminal justice reform and legal advocacy includes successfully challenging Nashville jail conditions, serving as court-appointed monitor to ensure the state meets its obligations to children with TennCare, and acting as co-reporter on a Tennessee Bar Association study on the effectiveness of counsel in capital cases. Kay has served numerous legal organizations in the state and contributed vital leadership as a long-time member of the ACLU-TN board of directors, including acting as board president for the last ten years.

Guests will enjoy a fun and festive cocktail party featuring light bites, delicious drinks, a special musical performance by critically-acclaimed singer-songwriter Luisa Lopez and a reading by award-winning poet Tiana Clark.
