Dr. Mary Evins of Middle Tennessee State University will discuss women’s involvements in activism and public work across Tennessee began well before their state and national roles in advocacy for woman suffrage. This class will examine the issues, concerns, and methods of women who operated without citizenship, within 19th-century civic patriarchy, provide important perspectives on the trajectory of the bend of the moral universe’s arc toward increased justice in civil society.
